Our Mission

Rehome Roots is a registered Australian charity, dedicated to supporting individuals and families displaced by natural disasters or affected by the ongoing housing crisis.

We provide modular expandable, and off-grid, transportable homes that offer safety, dignity, and self-sufficiency.

Through our innovative approach, we create sustainable housing solutions that benefit both those in need and the broader community.

What makes our program truly sustainable is our "pay it forward" model. Residents enter into an affordable rent-to-buy agreement, gradually paying back the cost of the tiny home to Rehome Roots. Once the home is paid off, these funds are directly reinvested to provide housing for the next person in need.

This creates a sustainable, community-driven cycle of compassionate home ownership—empowering people to rebuild their lives and support others on the path to stability.

How Our Program Works

Funds are primarily raised through our partnership with Heartland Homes Project, which donates a portion of profits from every tiny home sold. These contributions are pooled to build and install homes for those in need. Land Host Partners

We partner with compassionate landowners who provide space for a tiny home on their property

Community Lead

This approach addresses immediate housing needs and empowers residents through a compassionate pathway to homeownership while building a community of mutual support through our innovative "pay it forward" model.

Rent-to-Buy

Selected residents enter an affordable rent-to-buy arrangement for their new home

As residents gradually repay the cost of their homes, these funds directly finance homes for others in need

Thank you for your interest in the Rehome Roots Tiny Home Host Program. We are reaching out to compassionate property owners like yourself who have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our community while receiving benefits in return. The priority here is bringing people together and building strength in community and connection with profits second.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are inviting property owners to partner with us by hosting a fully-funded tiny home on their land. This opportunity allows you to:

Make a profound difference in someone's life by providing stable housing

Receive regular rental income from your unused land

Have input on selecting who lives in the tiny home

Contribute to community resilience with zero upfront investment

WHAT WE PROVIDE

As part of this program, Rehome Roots will:

Supply and install a quality tiny home on your property at absolutely no cost to you

Handle all installation requirements including necessary permits and connections

Maintain the tiny home structurally for the duration of the agreement

Manage the tenant selection process with your input

Provide ongoing support to both you and the resident

Pay you a reasonable land rental fee on a regular schedule

Support from Rehome Roots throughout the entire process

THE TINY HOMES

Our tiny homes are:

Professionally built to Australian building standards

Eco-friendly with sustainable features (limited models)

Self-contained with all necessary amenities

Attractive and unobtrusive designs that complement various property types

Low-impact with minimal footprint on your land

Fully removable at the end of the agreement term if desired

YOUR ROLE

As a Land Host, you would:

Provide usage of a suitable area of your property for the tiny home

Participate in the selection process for potential residents from our pre-screened shortlist

Allow reasonable access for the resident to use the property (Rehome Roots will be responsible for providing access routes such as driveways)

Notify Rehome Roots of any issues or concerns that may arise

RESIDENT SELECTION PROCESS

We understand the importance of having compatible residents on your property. Our selection process:

All potential residents undergo a thorough application process including background checks

Rehome Roots creates a shortlist of 3-5 suitable candidates

You review the shortlist and can interview potential residents if desired

You have final approval from the shortlist of who will be placed on your property

Both you and the resident sign clear agreements outlining rights and responsibilities

FINANCIAL BENEFITS

As a property host, you will receive:

A fair market land rental payment based on your location and the space provided

Regular, reliable income without the management burden of traditional rentals

No out-of-pocket expenses for the tiny home installation or maintenance

Potential tax benefits (please consult your tax advisor)
